Top Secret Club V News
I know who the new band is going to be. Check them out:
Their name is Znergy and I'm kind of excited about the two girls. Really excited. Don't tell EJ, OK? Maganda di ba.
They make their debut on September 15 with a Back 2 Back party. The new band, Znergy, and the old band, Street Beat, will play back to back sets all night at Club V.
Now Club V...I'm looking forward to the new band, but when are you going to bring back The Brown Republic?

Random thoughts on Life in Saipan
Wednesdays are Slow Jam Nights at Chambre Bar at Fiesta. The band, this week it was First Circle, for the next three months it will be Streetbeat, plays slower songs using acoustic instruments. Chambre is set up like a smoking lounge; the combination of atmosphere, live music, and Pirates of the Caribbean II playing on the TV is pretty hip.
What a perfect time to discuss hot singers.
The girl in the picture with Joe, EJ, and me is one of the singers from First Circle. I don't know her name, but she's hot. The other First Circle singer is hot, too.
Remember April and Gina from Brown Republic Band? They were hot. Anchel from Resound was hot and the scary girl from ART was hot, but she was scary.
Which leads to a discussion of the two new girls from Streetbeat:
So who's hotter? Short skirt or short shorts?
Alright, enough about hot girls. On to more important things.
Soccer.
I strung together a little video of this month's CNMI vs Guam game:
Go CNMI!!!
Alright, how about some tree hugger stuff?
Yesterday morning I helped coordinate the first tree planting of the 2007 Rainy Season. Using coconuts gathered from my late father's house in Fina Sisu and volunteers from the District Boy Scout Camp going on this week, we planted 115 trees.
One of the most rewarding things about my life on Saipan is working with kids who want to learn. The boy scouts were totally attentive as I spoke to them about the importance of planting trees, ecology, and such.It was a great event. I even got to participate in the flag raising ceremony:

Later in the day MINA hosted an An Inconvenient Truth power point presentation at Aqua Resort.
Aqua Resort has been a huge supporter of MINA and Beautify CNMI. They have held three fundraiser events for us, donate 10% of every meal on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays to MINA to support Beautify CNMI projects, and regularly participate in our volunteer activities. MINA recognized their support last night. Thanks, Aqua Resort!
The presentation was given by former CNMI resident Bob Schwalbach. Bob is part of the 1000 strong Albert Gore's Army (sounds kind of like Dumbledore's Army, huh?) giving Global Warming talks across the US.The slide show was not identical to the slide show given by Al Gore in An Inconvenient Truth. I would say that about 80% of the slides were the same. Some of the slides were newer, some as new as this week, some of the slides were catered to local issues facing the CNMI, and some slides took what Gore talked about and went into the topic in greater detail. My guess is that they were orignally part of Gore's presentation, but were edited out of the movie for one reason or another.
It was a fantastic presentation.
After the talk, the MINA board shared some of our expertise with Bob:
Then we posed for a group picture with Bob:
After the presentation some of us stayed at Aqua Resort for dinner. Last night was Seafood Night, which is my favorite night at my favorite buffet. Yum.After dinner, EJ and I went to Club V.
So.
I might as well finish this post off the way it started:

Love was in the air
Last night was another great night at Saipan Grand Hotel's Club V...but I don't have time right now to post pictures...come back later tonight for the scandalous Club V Valentine's Day Party pics!
In the meantime, who would you pick, based on eyes alone:
Update:
Here are the pictures I promised:

As you can probably gather from the pictures, we had dinner together at Aoi Restaurant before the show. Hello, bottomless plate of shrimp tempura? Heck yeah! The show itself was a lot of fun. There were 5 guys and 5 girls and we were each asked several rounds of questions. At the end we all wrote down who we wanted to be paired off with and if two people chose each other, they were paired off.
On my piece of paper I wrote:
"I choose you, Pikachu!"
I didn't get Pikachu. I was paired off with Margaret...who ran off after the show without saying a word to me. I think her first choice was Squirtle, not me.
Oh well, at least I still have my health. I didn't go home empty handed though; Before she ran off, Margaret gave me a stuffed teddy bear with rabbit ears (at least that's what it looks like to me). Right now it is in my car next to my dirty soccer socks. I will cherish it forever....and of course, none of this would have been possible without my loyal fans cheering me on:
...and that was Valentine's Day 2007.

Check me out tomorrow
I'm going to be featured in the Marianas Variety tomorrow. It is an article written for teenager types by a kid who graduated from Marianas High School last year. His name is Bernard.
This is the picture I gave them for the article. Not quite Blue Steel, but it will suffice.
I'm not really sure what to expect from the article.
He asked me questions about the "good old days" and what it was like going to high school back in the 1990's. Ouch! Come on, I only graduated from high school 11 years ago! Am I really that old?
That question reminds of something one of my restaurant managers used to say. When we asked him a question he would answer, "if you have to ask, then the answer is probably YES," to which I would respond, "should I clock out and go home?"
< / anecdote >
So yeah, I guess I really am that old. Whoever said that "you are only as old as the girl you are dating" was lying.
Oh well, here's a video of an anonymous PSS teacher shaking her butt at Club V:

Three nights at Club V
Saturday Night I went to Club V with EJ and Diana.
Sunday Night (New Year's Eve) I went to Club V with Ej, Osang (sp?), Brad, and two random Japanese girls.
Monday Night (New Year's Day) I went to Club V with Oscar, Diana, and Nina.
Are you sensing a theme here?
It's getting late. I'll post pictures of my adventures some time tomorrow.
