Did you notice my blog banner on the bottom of the Saipan Tribune website last week?
I paid to have my banner run on the bottom of their website for 7 days. I wanted to see if I saw a considerable boost in traffic.
I didn't. Well, not really.
194 people clicked on the banner, making the Saipan Tribune my number one referrer for the week. For comparison, my second and third biggest referrers were Jeff's blog and We Love Saipan, which referred 80 and 40 readers, respectively.
With 194 clicks at a cost of $140, the Saipan Tribune referrals cost about $0.72 each. That seems kind of expensive to me. I was hoping to get at least 1,400 referrals, bringing the cost per click down to $0.10.
While I realize that people reading the Saipan Tribune are more likely to become regular readers of my blog than people looking for pictures of "Nude Micronesia," during those same seven days I had 614 Google Image Search and 490 Google Search referrals.
What am I trying to say here?
I don't really know.

I think what you're trying to say is don't spend $140 for a banner at the Tribune, and instead take Jeff and Walt out to the Friday night Aqua buffet.
Walt only eats parsley. Nothing else.
That leaves more crispy pata for Jeff, and enables you to add me to the hat-in-hand-moochers at the check out counter getting in on your tab.
...back to the advertising thing.
I think if you had the type of business where all you wanted was for people to see your advertising, not necessarily click through to your website, then I think the Saipan Tribune advertising is a good deal.
I hope was hoping for more click throughs, so I'm not sure if it is worth the money in that regards.
Friday night at the Aqua? We should plan a large get together there one of these weeks. I think the Friday night buffet is the best buffet on island.
